Solar cable is a cable specifically designed for photovoltaic (PV) systems, used to connect solar panels, inverters, and energy storage systems. Unlike ordinary cables, solar cable is resistant to high temperatures, ultraviolet radiation, acid and alkali corrosion, and mechanical stress, enabling it to operate for extended periods in harsh outdoor environments, typically with a lifespan of over 25 years. The specific uses of solar cables in energy are as follows:
Photovoltaic power generation system
- Module Interconnection: In a solar panel array, solar cables are used to connect modules in series (PV string) or parallel (PV array) to form a unified DC output.
- Combiner Box to Inverter: This section connects the busbars of multiple module outputs and is a high-current transmission link on the DC side.
- Inverter to AC Distribution: After the inverter converts DC power to AC power, the Solar Cable is used to connect to the distribution cabinet or grid interface.

Energy Storage Systems
- Battery Cluster and BMS System Connection: Solar DC cables are used to transmit monitoring signals and mains current between battery modules and the battery management system (BMS).
- Energy Storage Converter (PCS) Input/Output: The PCS is responsible for bidirectional energy conversion (DC ↔AC) in the energy storage system, and solar cables transmit high-power DC power within it.
- Integrated Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Systems: In photovoltaic power plants, solar pv wires serve both the photovoltaic power generation side and the energy storage side, enabling energy sharing and dispatch.
- Containerized Energy Storage Systems: In large battery compartments or containerized energy storage systems, solar pv cables are used for connecting internal battery cells to external AC outputs.
Wind-Solar Hybrid and Off-Grid Power Systems
- PV Subsystem: PV cables are used to connect solar panels, combiner boxes, and controllers.
- Wind Subsystem: Although wind turbine cables are typically designed independently, in small hybrid systems, solar wire can also be used for low-voltage connections between the wind turbine generator and the controller.
- Battery & Inverter: Solar wires are used to connect the battery pack to the DC path of the inverter.
- Load Side and System Interconnection: In off-grid systems, PV wires connect the inverter output to the load or small microgrid.
Solar cables, as key components for power transmission in new energy systems, are widely used in photovoltaic power generation, energy storage systems, wind-solar hybrid power generation, and off-grid power supply. Their excellent high-temperature resistance, UV resistance, corrosion resistance, and high flexibility ensure safe and stable operation in various complex environments.
